On Saturday morning around about 11.30am me and my partner were coming to look at potential getting a storage unit we also had some friends coming to have a look. They were at the hobby shop next door. I parked my car and as we were walking over there to meet them and come back I took 5 steps and a staff member comes out side and says hey mate you need to move your car. My reply was oh we will be 2 secs" and before I could even finish my sentence he replied with don't care and walked back inside.
So we just got in my car and went home. Thanks to the the rude staff member I won't be coming back at all and telling my friends to do the same .

Outstanding service and great convenience! Easy access with plenty of parking space made moving hassle free. I stored my moving items for a little over a week and had a great experience. The staff were super friendly and helpful as well. I would definitely recommend them to anyone needing storage!

Very disappointing customer service. I was looking to rent the largest and most expensive shed in the facility on an ongoing basis for my commercial businesses, despite their prices being around 15–20% higher than other facilities I had inspected.
I simply asked Gary, the manager, for some flexibility with the billing date so the $2,000 monthly payment aligned with when my business invoices are paid. I wasn’t asking for any additional discount, just a workable payment date. There was absolutely no flexibility or willingness to find a solution. Despite knowing I needed to move my equipment this week, his solution was essentially to “come back in two weeks.”
For a business charging premium prices, I found the attitude unnecessarily rigid and dismissive. The facility itself is modern, but unfortunately the customer service was enough for me to walk away to National Storage just down the road where the facilities are similar but most importantly, management are much more flexible, understanding and accommodating.

The man i met on the first day, amazing, welcoming and friendly. Offered to yell out if need anything. Its in the ideal place as noise at and time isnt really an issue as no houses around. Easy access to lift and trollys right near them. Secure, tidy. Good stuff. You need your own padlock. But if you forget, they have a landing machine inside the gates that sells them too

With the large lift and the trolleys supplied our move into a 3x3 was very easy. The place is kept very clean and is easy to navigate.
The trolleys make moving even large heavy loads a breeze, being smooth running and a good manageable size.
I'll use this facility again if the time comes that I will need this service.

Right from my initial enquiry I was impressed with the service I received. Gavin was personable and I felt more than just a number.
I have been going through a difficult time , he has worked with me and gone above and beyond.
I have stored over the years in more places than I care to remember and general storage are the best .
The hours alone show thought, access is perfect although I have required 24/7 a couple of times .

Pricing had several options which was great.

i needed space pretty quickly and found general self storage after searching for storages near me. i'll be honest i did almost second guess it after seeing a negative review but i was in a rush and it was close so i decided to go in and see the place for myself.
i'm really glad i did. the staff was lovely to deal with and made the whole thing much easier than i expected. i even got a deal on a 3x3 for only $99 on the spot!!
i also made a point of checking the bathroom while i was there. i don't really use public bathrooms but i was still curious. it was midday when i took these photos so take from that what you will.
in retrospect, i think respect goes both ways. my experience with was very positive and i'm really glad i gave them a chance. i would happily recommend this place to anyone needing storage in the area.

The building is very clean with great service but they need to provide more trolleys. I visited the Southport facility on Friday and there were no trolleys at all??
Accordingly, I couldn't move some things to my car. Very inconvenient!

The frustrating part about my experience at General Self Storage is that the treatment you get seems to depend entirely on whether the manager likes you or not.
If everything’s going smoothly, he can be friendly enough. But the moment there’s an issue, the attitude changes completely and the way he speaks to people becomes rude, confrontational, and unnecessarily aggressive. Running a professional business means treating ALL customers with basic respect, not picking and choosing who gets spoken to properly.
To be fair, I’ll admit one situation started because I had some items outside my unit while I’d been loading up all morning trying to run my business. I left briefly to grab food and came back to being spoken to like I’d done something unforgivable. The units around me were empty, I wasn’t blocking anyone, and I wasn’t causing damage or trouble. A simple polite conversation would’ve been enough, but instead I was spoken to disrespectfully. After that, the attitude towards me completely changed.
I also witnessed similar behaviour towards other customers while I was there.
On top of that, the toilets were consistently filthy. I genuinely don’t believe they were properly cleaned the entire time I rented there, and I have photos to back it up. Oddly enough, the rest of the facility is generally kept tidy and secure, so the lack of cleanliness in shared amenities stands out even more.
The facility itself has potential, and most of the other staff were fine. But management attitude and customer treatment ruined the experience for me and is ultimately why I moved my belongings elsewhere.

The service is of an extremely high standard, I rang a few places comparing prices and they didn't come close. Gary, who answered my enquire was transparent with what they were offering even emailed me the details of options and which I hadn't committed yet..That was impressive, going that extra mile in service. What General Sell Storage offer is better money for value, professionalism and a week later even after I had signed up and Gary came out of the office to see if I had settled in ok. Extra mile again, I recommend this business to those seeking temporary storage, but need to deal with trust worthy people. These are your people.

The Manager is very courteous and isn’t trying to bill you for any discrepancies of any kind, unlike other major facilities nearby.
Modern, clean facility with alarms on unit doors as well as other security, so your stuff is safe.
Store has all you need for packaging. Bathrooms and vending machine on site.
Highly recommend.
